RUSA STAG HUNTS

We are able to offer a great hunting package for rusa stags on our exclusive 125,000 acre hunting ranch on the Great Dividing Range in Central Queensland.
Good size trophy Rusa deer are encountered everyday during your hunt, especially during the rut in June/July with some specimens well in excess of 30 inches. The most recent measuring 33 inches in length.
We also have the following species available at this ranch, Fallow deer, Axis deer, Sambar deer, Red deer, Dingo, Scrub Cattle and Kangaroo.

Hunting

Hunting is mainly done on foot, as the hunting area varies from open timber country to thick vegetation and some creek flats and swampy grass lands.
During the rut, stalking in on roaring stags is a tremendously exciting way to hunt. Rusa stags are vocal during the rut, usually to the end of June through to August, and are very aggressive, often fighting for dominance of the breeding hinds.
Trophy stags are long tyned with heavy pearled beams and often have bladed tops. Stags are often found around wallows and are very territorial often marking their area with scrapes and rubs.

Getting there

Hunters will fly to Emerald Regional Airport connecting from Brisbane International Airport (approx 3 flights per day), where you will be met by your guide or one of his representatives and transported by vehicle (approx 2 ½ hours drive) to the hunting area.
At the conclusion of your hunt you will be returned to Emerald Regional Airport or you may wish to end your hunt in Townsville (Gateway to The Great Barrier Reef) at a cost of US$500 extra per group for the Townsville transfer.
