Fishing tours on Kamchatka Peninsula Russia

The Vakhil River is situated on Russia’s pacific coast on the famous Kamchatka peninsula north east of the provincial capital of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It flows into Avacha bay between Nalychevo cape and Shipunsky peninsula, it’s a pristine river due to its location only being accessed by sea or helicopter and protection from the tour operators’ exclusive concession. The area abounds in wildlife with sea mammals such as whales, orcas, sea otters and seals and also Russia’s famous brown bears.

This river and surrounding coast is home to all the endemic pacific salmonoids like King salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha), Humpback salmon (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha), Sockeye salmon (Oncorhynchus nerka), Chum salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) and Silver salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch) as well as Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus) and Spotted char (Salvelinus leucomaenis). These fish are found during their spawning runs that begin in July with king salmon and end in October with silver salmon, Pacific halibut up to 150 kg are also targeted during this time in the ocean surrounding the fishing camp.
